No Bruises On the Outside-a story of survival

April 5, 12 and 19, 2022    6:30 to 8 p.m.

An accurate diagnosis is the first step in any successful medical treatment.  When there are no bruises on the outside; how do we identify Neglect and Abuse?  How do we identify when insults become Emotional Abuse or when arguments become Domestic Violence; when there are no bruises on the outside?

Join us for this three part facilitated community discussion.  Come and hear Roger's story and learn about: an exposure that dramatically increases the risk for 7 of the Top 10 Causes of Death in the USA; Civilian PTSD; No-contact child abuse and neglect; helpful treatments, life skills and What You and Our Community can do to Help Ourselves, Our Children, Our Neighbors; Our Community.  (Each presentation is a standalone presentation, so join in when you can.  Of course, if you hear all three, you will learn the most, but come to 1, 2 or 3 and you will learn.)

This is a FREE video conference by Zoom.

The three session:

April 5: Session 1. No-contact Abuse and Neglect:   On the first segment of this gentle emotional roller coaster ride, Roger will talk about his life, family dynamics and family history.  We will move into an explanation of childhood neglect and abuse, especially no-contact physical.  This leads us to the groundbreaking Adverse Childhood Experience Study which revealed that childhood neglect and abuse are much more serious than we thought, causing lifelong physical health problems, as well as lifelong effects on mental health for the survivors.

April 12: Session 2. Civilian PTSD:  On the middle segment of this gentle emotional roller coaster ride, we will delve into Civilian PTSD, the causes can be natural disasters, auto accidents, emotional neglect and abuse and many more.  Roger will talk about the 17 points to identify Civilian PTSD, and include personal stories to help explain his PTSD diagnosis.  This is where all the pieces of the puzzle start to fit together for Roger and we start to see the light at the end of the roller coaster’s tunnel.  Finally, an appropriate treatment plan is started.

April 19: Session 3. Solving the Puzzle, Treatment and Going Forward:  On the last segment of this gentle roller coaster ride, Roger will bring all of the science, psychology and his life experiences together.  He will talk about various treatments that have worked for him and explain how he uses skills every day to improve management of his daily living.  These are skills we all can use, regardless of our past.  And, Roger will talk a bit about what comes next for him.
